Celebrating the Life and Work of Ted Hughes

Welcome to The Elmet Trust!

We are a charitable company based in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire, celebrating the poetry of Ted Hughes where he was born. This year we've got another October festival lined up but if that's too long to wait, join us for a drink in 'Hole in t' Wall' pub in nearby Hebden Bridge for a poetry slam on 15th August.

Stay up to date with what's happening on the Elmet Trust calendar and visit our Events page here.

It is important that Ted Hughes' poetry is celebrated and remembered in the village that influenced his writing so much. One of The Trust's biggest projects has been the refurbishment of 1 Aspinall Street into a writer's retreat holiday home. Fitted with modern appliances and decorated in a 1930s style, this newly renovated house captures the ambiance of the era when Ted Hughes was born without foregoing comfort.

Visit Calderdale this Summer and make your reservation with Yorkshire Cottages to stay at Ted Hughes' Birthplace.
